Day trips to & from Coll

To Coll

Summer - ferry

CalMac's timetable allows day-trips to Coll on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays. Most days only allow 2 hours on Coll but Wednesday's sailing, going onto Barra & back, allows 9 hours on Coll.
July & August Saturdays gives another possibility as there are two sailings from Oban to Coll/Tiree, allowing a 10 hour stay on the island.

Once you get to Coll you can hire a bike (or bring your own of course) or just saunter around and enjoy some Hebridean hospitality & cuisine.

Winter - ferry

On days there's a sailing, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday, a two hour stay on Coll is possible.

All year - flying

Hebridean Airways’ timetable schedules allow for a short day's stay on Coll on a Wednesday. Flights are only from Connel (Oban), day trips aren't possible from Tiree.

From Coll

Summer only - ferry

On Wednesdays and Saturdays (the latter in July & August only), the CalMac timetable allows a whole day on Tiree. You leave Coll early morning and arive back in the evening.
On the Wednesday ferry you can even go to Castlebay, Barra, for ~ 15 minutes, and back to Coll. It's a long sail but a lovely experience through Gunna Sound (between Coll & Tiree). Excellent for wildlife spotting.

All year - flying

On Wednesdays you can fit in a day trip by plane to Connel airport, just north of Oban. Or a day trip to Tiree. The flight itself is quite an experience and on a good day the views are spectacular as you fly between the hills of Mull and the Treshnish islands. For more information on plane times please see Hebridean Airways’ timetable.
