Bees & bumblebees

Other invertebrates here

The Western Isles' machair provides ideal habitat for bees & bumblebees and you'll find a healthy array of them on Coll. Included are national rarities, Northern Colletes, a tiny, speciality mining bee and at the other end of the size-scale, the Great Yellow Bumblebee.
Just walk through the machair mid summer and you'll see, and hear, them busy amongst the array of amazing flora.
