Glendyke is our own little paradise, situated on the shores of Breachacha bay within a RSPB reserve.
Walk out of the front door onto the foreshore, watch otters in the stream from the kitchen window (if you are lucky), or be woken at night by corncrakes in the garden. From the garden we have seen corncrake, hen harriers, sea eagles, long and short-eared owls, seals, otters, stream-jumping (and swimming) hares – all-in-all a wildlife paradise.
Glendyke is simply but comfortably furnished, and sleeps 4 in two doubles, with stunning views out of every window. The kitchen is well equipped, and the sun shines in through the kitchen windows from mid-day to sundown. The bathroom has a double bath and power shower. A wood-burning stove supplements electric panel heaters. It has its own large fenced plot with a steep bank down to a stream along 2 sides. It is sheep netted and is large-dog proof.
Our change-over day is Sunday.
The cottage is 6 miles from the pier at Arinagour, and is accessed across a field track. Out of season it can get boggy, so a 4 x 4 is desirable then. Over the summer there is rarely a problem. Dogs permitted by agreement, no smoking please.
